Mount Kisco is partnering with the South African Pretoria-Silverton Club in a Literacy and Skills Development Project that will reach thousands of under-privileged school children. Teachers, deprived of skills by decades of apartheid, will be trained to teach literacy more effectively, and be given the tools to do this. Thousands of children will become literate more quickly, and develop the skills to enter a modern economy. Africa is in trouble. South Africa, with its strong infrastructure and committed Rotarians, is well placed to educate its populace, and begin to turn the tide from poverty to economic activity on the whole continent. Mount Kisco Rotary is proud to be sponsoring this ambitious project. |

We meet Wednesday's, 12:15 PM at The Mt, Kisco Holiday Inn, The restaurant serves gourmet-quality buffet. Our lunches are currently $12.50 and we're known to have some of the finest meals in the area.
We have 51 members. Our club was chartered in 1954.
We are a very exciting club to make-up at and our welcome song is famous for being absolutely the best in all of Rotary-dom!
We're known in the area for holding a "ROTARY
RADIO-TV DAY" every couple of years as a major fund raiser.
Our local radio-TV station, WVIP, generously allows us to take
over the station and do a radio-TV telethon for an entire day.
We've financially helped our local hospital, Boys & Girls
Club, Mt. Kisco Day Care Center, Mt. Kisco Library and a host
of other local charities. We're also known for giving "gifts-in-kind"
to these and other needy groups rather than giving money.
You can e-mail our club's secretary, Dr. Eugene L. Hirsch.
